Festering

I read a lot of blogs. A lot. I subscribe to over 100. Lest you think that I do nothing but blog read, I have my magical tricks that allows for many blogs in little time. I hope to share that sometime soon on the Frugal Flamingo.

I love blogging because it inspires me. I love learning new things. I love finding ways to manage my time and my home better. I love being hit between the eyes with spiritual truth.

Though with that inspiration can also come self-degradation. Blogging allows your best light to be seen. Most bloggers are not superficially pretentious. The bloggers I know write with honesty. However, that does not mean that the reader won't twist their words and message into something ugly for themselves.

Comparison. It's that ugly word that continues to fester itself inside of me. I am not ashamed to admit that because I know YOU probably struggle with it too. I had so many words to share on this, but then I remembered that I did before.

Last year at Relevant, Angie Smith shared something that continues to resonate with me (so many things I heard at Relevant still resonates with me). She conveyed about the need to be selective of what we read.

What we read may be God centered. It may be written with a pure heart. However, if it is making you run to ANYTHING other than Jesus, you best not go there. If it is making you feel discouraged about yourself or others, you need to stop reading. Yep, even if it's 1 Crazy Journey or the Frugal Flamingo. Although I seriously don't know how this blog would not allow you to feel fantastic about yourself:)

So, that is why I am going to Relevant again. You might be surprised to know I wasn't going to go. For some reason, God wants me there again. It is a cool story, but that is for another time. Maybe.

I wish every blogger could go to Relevant. However, God will prod whoever needs to be there. Is he prodding you? Consider it. Pray about it. Take the leap of faith and go.

Here were my thoughts on the conference last year. here and here .

And yep...that is Darlene and I rockin' the Relevant website.

You are SO right about selective reading!! There's one blog (someone I know IRL) that I barely read any more because I feel like such a failure afterward. She home schools 3 kids, makes her bed from scratch, cooks 3 meals a day from scratch, her children VOLUNTEER to clean house and do their school work, she makes their clothes, makes all their presents, etc. etc. And here I'm just barely keeping my head above water. Yep, don't read her so much any more, even though she's very sweet and totally sincere. I'm the one with the problem.

I'd love to go to Relevant this year but I'm trying really hard to get to SheSpeaks and I don't think I can swing 2 conferences this year. We'll see what happens. :)
